For lovers of Acoustic music and Bluegrass, the last weekend in February means Wintergrass. The non-profit indoor festival is held at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue and the hotel is transformed. Every large room is filled with nationally known artists and each smaller space is used for a variety of workshops led by the performers. The halls are filled with groups of people jamming, taking turns calling the song and improvising solos when the leader points to them.
The 3rd floor is dedicated to several NW Showcases, each with a lineup of local bands doing short sets. Those performances are free to the public. Next year stop by and enjoy. The stages are filled with non-stop music, but you don’t need a paid wristband to enjoy the experience. If you wander the halls, explore the 3rd floor, and even ride the elevators, you will be immersed in the vibrant Northwest acoustic scene.
