During these warm summer nights, I often think back to fond childhood memories of when I didn’t have a care in the world. My favorite memory was going to the Mukilteo Beach Park or Howrth Park and just running in and out of the water, it was such a simple act but it gave me such joy and happiness. Life was easy as a kid, not a worry in the world. I don’t have children yet, but I do have nieces and nephews and to see the same joy in their smiling faces when they play in a kiddy pool or when they hear the ice cream man, instantly puts me in a happy place. I think summer can do that to you, it can make you stop to think and enjoy life a little more.
This summer I want to have more of those carefree moments. Last summer was hectic- with starting a new position here at Verity Credit Union, making a monumental decision to purchase a new home and preparing to move into that home. I’ve already had some fun summer nights dancing away with girlfriends and enjoying our new patio, grilling burgers and hotdogs with my hubby. It also helps that we’ve been pretty spoiled with nice weather since Memorial Day Weekend. Usually July 4th is the unofficial kick off for nice summer weather in the Pacific Northwest, but I’m happy that it came early this year.
On top of having a carefree summer, I’m going to make it a goal to relax more. I often times fuss over party planning or cleaning up, and can’t always enjoy myself when we have guests over. This summer I might just leave the sink full of dishes and worry about it the next day (this is already giving me anxiety), but I think it’s good to let it go sometimes! The point is summer has arrived, and life is too short not to enjoy it. This summer will be one to remember and I plan to make more memories with my family and friends.
Hi! My name is Rithy (pronounced “Raw-Tee”). I am the Lending Product and System Specialist for Verity Credit Union. Although I am new to Verity Credit Union, I have worked for Not for Profit Credit Unions for over eight years (and counting). My previous roles included everything from Teller, Loan Processor, Shared Branch Administrator, Accounting to Credit Analyst. In 2011, I completed my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Washington in Communications and Social Sciences. I love my current role at Verity Credit Union. I am responsible for research and development of new loan products and assist in managing our loan operating systems. I am learning new things every day and that excites me!
I live in Seattle and enjoy eating and running, but preferably not at the same time (trust me, gets too messy). I’m lucky enough to say I got to marry my best friend, who also happens to enjoy eating and running. In my free time, I also love to cook and spend time with family and friends. My family loves to get together and celebrate, and we celebrate in the best way possible, with lots and lots of food! Even when I’m not celebrating with family, I often find myself cooking meals for at least 6 people, even though it’s just for my husband and me. My love for food is also the main reason in why I enjoy to run!
