Back in January 2011, Verity launched our Cartwheel for a Cause contest - in which we asked our community to submit 60-second YouTube videos about a cause they felt deserved $5,000. One of our 37 entries came from Martha Lake Elementary in Lynnwood, WA. Their video explained how their playground was old and unsafe (the school district is going to force them to tear it down) and they do not have the funds for a new one.

While they didn't win Cartwheel for a Cause (Verity did donate $200 toward the effort!) this group isn't giving up easily. They submitted for the Kaboom! Let's Play Video Contest, where they could win $15,000 for their new playground. They have made the top 10 and we think all our Verity blog readers should consider voting for their project. It is a great thing for a group of local kids who just want to play safely!

Not convinced yet? I found out about this amazing next step from this adorable letter the group mailed to me. A picture of their new playground that is hand colored and accompanied by a letter written out by the kids. You can't possibly look at this thing and not feel compelled to vote!

Register and vote for this great local cause!

I just wanted to follow up and let everyone know the results of the contest. There were a total of five schools that will receive $15,000 grants – and Martha Lake Elementary is one of them! Congratulations to MLE and thank you to everyone who read this post and voted!
